Painters Juried Competition

Official 2015 Call to Painters document

This juried competition is a project of the Camp Hill Economic and Cultural Development Group (ECDG) and culminates with an awards presentation and multi-day exhibition and sale at Camp Hill Borough's Prosser Hall, 2145 Walnut Street in Camp Hill. The Plein Air Camp Hill event runs from May 29th until May 31st, 2015. Artists will paint within specified areas from May 25th through May 29th. On Friday, May 29th between 12 noon and 1:00pm, artists must turn in two completed, framed and ready-to-hang artworks which were painted during the week. Requirements for these completion pieces are:

  • Two-dimensional medium with a 20"x24" maximum size, including outside frame dimensions
  • All work must be done "en plein air" (outside) without the assistance of photography
  • All submitted artwork must be available for sale.

These two pieces will be entered into the Awards Competition, which will be judged Friday afternoon, May 29th. Winners will be announced at the Collector's Preview Party between 6:00 and 8:00 pm Friday evening.

Application Process

All artists wishing to participate must enter 3 digital images of their original plein air work completed in the past 3 years along with a fee of $25.00. Entries should be submitted to Plein Air Camp Hill either on CDs or, electronically transmitted to

Artists are encouraged to submit their best possible jpeg images; name your file using your initials; title of work and number: (i.e. cbachikpainting1.jpg).

  • Registration Deadline is Monday, March 16, 2015.
  • Complete the application form and mail it with your $25 check (payable to 'ECDG') along with the CD (all three together). In lieu of a check, you may pay the registration fee online:
  • You will be notified by mail no later than Friday, March 31, 2015 of your acceptance status.

2015 Competition Cash Awards

    1st Place Award, $2000
    2nd Place Award, $1000
    3rd Place Award, $750
    There will also be an Honorable Mention Award, Artists' Choice Award, People's Choice Award and a Purchase Award.

Beyond this juried competition, Plein Air Camp Hill also hosts a Quick Draw Competition for photogrpahers.

May 25thArtists arrive, register, and have all competition canvasses stamped. Up to five canvasses may be stamped.
May 25-29Artists Paint and, on Friday, May 29th, submit two paintings for awards judging.
May 29thCollector's Preview Party - There is a preview hour for artists and spouses with voting for Artists' Choice Award beginning at 5:00pm. Awards announced at 7:00pm
May 30-31Exhibit and sale of artwork continues.
May 30thQuick Draw Event. Any artist has the option to register and participate in a Quick Draw competition.
May 31stLast day for exhibit and sales. Sales gallery closes at 3:00pm. Artists must pick up unsold work between 3:00 & 5:00pm.
